March projects

March is really busy month for me, as I have become a part of Idea factory as well as I am the part of a group which is making banners fore Pure business event. Apart  of those out-of-school projects I have two big assignments to school. I have to create my web portfolio, I had to brush up my HTML knowledge and create nice, user friendly portfolio which would present me as a skillfull graphic design student. The other assignment is about predicting trends, I have chosen to do poster design trends in the Netherlands and I am trying to spot if those trends which are in Netherlands are also evident in Denmark and the  Czech Republic and how far they are adapted.
In Idea factory everything is going great, right now we are working on Orkester Norden visual identity, right now it is more about talking and trying to understand all target groups and all messages which we want to perceive. I am so excited that we are going to have an office at Byens Rum which is unique user driven city development center in Aalborg. It is still under reconstruction, but when finished it will be a room in a city where innovative and initiative people will have a possibility to get together, create and do project, learn and teach. On the other hand Africa exprience project is little bit in mess right now, but I hope it will get better, it has to get better. In less then month there will be event where Pure business will be introduced to politicians and big food companies. I am a part of voluntary group which is creating banners for the room where the even will took the place. We have to cooperate with another Danish group which is "decorating" the room and trying to create African feeling. On tuesday we went for a meeting at Food college (place where this event will be) to have a look how it looks like. We hoped to meet the organisational group as well, but I dont know why they cancelled the meeting 20 minutes before and by that time I was already one hour on my way. So we managed to meet just 2 guys from Danish graphic group and they were not talkative (they did not want to talk to internationals? or why?) and they didnt know anything. So we have agreed on another meeting on thursday and I really hope that organisational group will show up otherwise I would be really dissappointed.

First sunny days of 2014 in Aalborg

It feels like spring is comming ! This weekend the weather was really beautiful, sun was shining and on Sunday the temperature raised up to 14 degrees Celsius. I had a free weekend, because my company had lost hotel, where I was working during the weekends, so right now I am waiting till they will find something for me (and I hope they will find something).

On Saturday I woke up quite early and when I saw the sun outside I decided to go on a small trip and explore other Aalborg district, I went to Hasseris to the flooded quarry called Nordens Kridtgrav. There is a really nice walk alongside the quarry.

On Sunday I went to the city with Ela and Juli. We walked through the city center, relax by the water front, explored Musikkens hus and Nordkraft and we finished our tour de city by visiting Østre Anlæg park.

That is all for now. Let's enjoy my photos!

Perfect day in Aarhus and one super news

On Wednesday I have finally, after very long time, gone on a trip outside the city of Aalborg. I went to Aarhus with Ela, we saw an article about EDU days in Aarhus. After signing up we were able to go by bus for free and visit the study abroad fair at Aarhus University. The bus was leaving from Aalborg university at Aalborg Ost , so I had to go by bike to get there. When we were about to get on a bus, they asked us our name to check it in the list, here is where I was charmed by Danish culture. I definitely looked like a fool. Because they ask me my name and I supposed that they want to know surname and then when she wasn’t able to find me on the list and asked me if I am sure I signed up, I realized that the list contained just first names. :D

Firstly we went to the fair, where we were able to see how lucky you are if you have been born as a Danish citizen, because they are able to get money from government to be able to study abroad in USA, Australia, China, New Zealand and so on.Then we went to explore the city, we walked along Gamle By, botanical garden and then we continued towards the city center. Aarhus is the second biggest city in Denmark and I would say that it is 3 times bigger than the fourth Aalborg, but maybe it is just my own opinion.

I guess I am not used to walking anymore, because during the walk through city I have sprained my ankle several times and when we arrived back to Aalborg I have sprained it most sorely. Someone was watching me falling down but he just hopped on his bike and cycled away. But I must say that biking is now easier for me than walking.

And the best news is that I got accepted and now I am a part of Idea factory, which is volunteer student Design Company. We will be working on Orkester Norden project now. I am very excited and I am looking forward to it but I am of course little bit scared if I would be able to work with a real client. But it will be definitely great and useful experience for my future internship and career.
