My first school week in Denmark

Monday was my study start day at UCN. When I came to the school I was first formally registered by my tutor. All new students were given bottle of water, lollipop and raining coat, just in case it would rain because welcome speech took place outside. Luckily this morning weather was beautiful. Official speeches were given by Head of School of Technology  Jan Holler Foget, Head of International Relations  Mette Samuelsen, and a tutor. All speeches were in danish language as well as in english. After that there was a band playing on not so usual instrument like lids, pipes, trash cans etc. After the small concert our tutors directed us to our class rooms, where we have been given SmartStart boxes which includes lots of free tickets to museums, sport matches, zoo, pubs etc. Our tutor told us everything about university, took us on a tour throught the building. Then we had a time for lunch, this day there was a special offer: lasagne with a salad for 20 Dkk . After lunch we had to take picture for student card and the we were free to go to school Friday bar, where we had a chance to get one beer for free.

I have bought my bike after school on Monday. But it was way difficult than I expected. The one I found on the websites, where second hand bike are sold, wasn´t available. So then I found that one in one shop where they sell pretty cheap bikes in retro style (still not that nice like old dutch bikes but nice for those sporty bikes which are common here in Denmark). So I decided to buy it, but unfortunately it was packed in box. Firstly I had to ask a shop assistant if he can take it to cash desk, because it is too heavy for me. I also asked him if they can assemble it for me and he sad yes, but after paying I was sent  to the information desk, where they told me that they can´t do it because it is not their duty and they are having lots of customers they had to take care of. So they gave me tools and they said you can assemble it here. I asked that guy if it is hard, but he said no, the bike is from 80 % assembled so it is easy. When I opened the box I almost started to cry because the bike was divided into small pieces and not assembled from 80% and to make matters worse in the box there was just danish manual. But luckily one guy came to help after seeing my sorrowful face. So now I have my bike, but I am still missing mine black dutch ones which I had during my summer in Amsterdam. Cycling here is little bit different, in Aalborg it is much more hilly than in Amsterdam and almost everyone riding bicycle looks like a sportsman and all cyclist here are really fast (in Amsterdam I belonged to the most rapid cyclers :D )

On Tuesday we still doesn´t have a proper school lessons instead of that we had a all day long project, where we were making in small groups letters of a name of a famous person. Our class agreed on Martin Luther King, so in small group we were making a letter (character)  according to words starting with letter we were making and which refers to our famous person. This should help us get to know each other better and show our creativity.

On Wednesday our normal lessons started, so far I had lessons of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Philoshopy of Value. I am really excited about all those lessons. Each week I have a different composition of my lessons, but my school always starts at 8:30 and finishes at 15:30. I do not have to forget to mention, that we have a really good school canteen which offers breakfast and lunches according to healthy diet. Food here is very tasty and a price is almost the same as in school canteen at Prague a used to go to. Here you can have 100 grames of food for 8 Dkk.
