Forget me not: Back on track

After getting back to Aalborg we had a little time before starting to work on magazine assignment. Me and Ela decided to join voluntary assignment to create promotional material (although we thought it is cheeky to ask international students to make promotional material, so the danish students then can go on a trip to california). So the task was to create promotional material to invite American studens from California State University Graphic design department to come to Aalborg and spend one week studying at our school. We were able to choose the media ( at least brief said so). So we focused on the thing that during 7 day you cannot learn that much, but you can find new friends and new experiences. Since it is known that people did not like to read heavy text and that goes double forAmericans. We have created can saying Take a sip of danish design (it is really sip when the trip is just 7 days) and where usualy are written ingredients we also wrote ingredients, but ingredients of the study trip such a group work, real projects, international environment,social life etc. We also made simple brochure consisting of a picture of the can and simple texlight infographic. The result of the competition was kinda dissapointment for us (of course we did not feel that our design is the best) because it seemed like our teachers preache water to drink wine. The brochure which won was overfilled with text and old interview with some student and so many unnecessary thing and their justification for choosing this was was that they chose the cheapest one. Ok than maybe they should think to write clearly the design brief next time.

On tusday 6 of May we had a small workshop where we learned how to bind up a book, I am so glad that we did it because I had my real book/notebook made by me and it helped us to realize what we should keep in mind for next time and how we are going to use it in our magazine assignment. After the workshop we went to visit Vester kopi - the biggest printing company in Denmark. We got a chance to see how it works there and what are the print possibilities.
